Admissions

The MS in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership Program welcomes students from a range of disciplines such as dentistry, gerontology, medicine, nursing, nutrition, occupational and physical therapies, pharmacy, social work and other non-clinical professionals working in the healthcare industry. As you go through the application process, you will have an admissions advisor who will work with you to answer questions, assist you with the online application to ensure that you meet the application deadlines, and confirm that your application materials are complete.

The program’s admissions committee will review your application and determine your admission status. In addition to meeting the minimum requirements for acceptance into the program, the committee will consider your career and personal goals for entering the program, your work and volunteer experience, evidence of leadership, and the strength of your professional and academic references.

To be considered for admission an applicant must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0
  • Completion of an introductory course in statistics from a regionally accredited institution within the past 10 years
  • Minimum of six (6) months full-time professional or management experience within a healthcare environment
  • Proficiency in English. All applicants whose first language is not English must: 1) take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL, http://www.toefl.org) and achieve a minimum overall TOEFL score of 84 (Internet-based test) and a minimum score of 24 in both the speaking section and the writing section, or 2) demonstrate proficiency in English by completing one year of full-time study with a minimum GPA of 3.0 at a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Computer with a high-speed Internet connection and basic computer proficiency, particularly with regards to word processing and Internet skills

One must be from a former faculty or someone who can speak to your academic potential, a second from someone well acquainted with your professional preparation, experience and potential for leadership, and a third from an administrator within your healthcare organization.

Discuss how your personal background informs your decision to pursue this graduate degree. Please include any educational, cultural, economic, family or social experiences, challenges, or opportunities relevant to your academic journey.

Leadership & Career Goal Statement

Provide a brief description of your leadership and career goals and how participating in this graduate program will advance your goals. Please address components of leadership, change management and interprofessional teamwork that pertain to your career development.

Healthcare Focus Statement

Examine the four areas of focus on the program website and describe how knowledge and skills in these areas would foster your career. The four areas are health systems management, leadership & change, health systems research and interprofessional practice.

Why is an interprofessional program the right choice for you?

Interprofessional Capstone Project Proposal
  1. Describe the problem that you will focus on for your evidence-based interprofessional capstone project.
  2. Describe the significance of investigating this problem for your organization.
  3. List key participant disciplines/roles that you believe are needed to be part of the interprofessional project team.
  4. Every organization has factors that facilitate or impede the process of accomplishing change. Please identify 2-3 organizational factors that might be barriers to effective planning or execution of your project. Please also identify 2-3 organizational factors that might facilitate the accomplishment of your project. Please be specific.
  5. Describe how this capstone project will advance your leadership and career goals.
  6. Describe your worksite mentor’s role in your interprofessional capstone project.

Application Deadlines

Completed applications are due seven (7) weeks prior to the start date for classes each quarter. Please check with your admissions advisor to confirm the application due date for the quarter in which you intend to enroll.
